A Restored Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible

This ‘67 Cutlass convertible is the type of car you want to own: rebuilt (with receipts) drive train; rebuilt (with receipts) fuel and brake systems; nice paint and interior; and a like-new top that goes up and down with the push of a button. This car will be a hit with both your family and the folks at the weekly cruise-in. For those of you who like decoding these cars, we have also included pictures of its cowl tag and VIN.

Restored Drivetrain

• Olds 330 cid V-8

Nestled into a nicely detail engine bay, this convertible moves right out with its rebuilt (2,000 miles ago) V-8 engine. As noted, we have the receipts from the shop that rebuilt it. This 330 cid engine starts at the turn of the key runs smoothly, whether idling at a traffic light or out on the Interstate.

The fuel system (new tank, carburetor rebuild) was overhauled to update the entire power plant. The exhaust was just replaced six hundred miles ago.

• Automatic Transmission

Put this Cutlass into gear and it shifts cleanly and properly as the engine runs it up to speed. The transmission kicks down properly when you wish to accelerate quickly for passing or highway entry from on-ramps. Again, this transmission was serviced in February 2012 (with receipt).

Nice Cosmetics

• Exterior

This Cutlass is an attractive vehicle, with a nice paint job that is shiny and bright. There are a few door-edge type chips but they have been properly touched up so they are barely noticeable.

The chrome is in good condition as well, with only some minor “rash” on the left rear wheel well chrome surround. The glass is all in good condition, and the manual winding mechanisms all work properly. The 4 aluminum wheels with Olds inserts are in very nice condition and are mounted with P225/70 R 14 tires that have most of their tread remaining.

The power convertible top mechanism works as it should and the top as well as its window (see pictures) are in excellent condition.

• Interior

The black vinyl upholstery shows almost no wear and the door panels are equally as nice. The carpeting is very nice both in the front and rear.

The dash pad is free from cracks or fading. The steering wheel has cracks where each of the spokes meets the rim, but are located in such a way that they are hard to see and you don’t feel them as you are driving (see pictures). The interior of the top is clean and looks fresh but there is some abrasion where the front bow holds the lining tight.

Safety Equipment, etc.

All of the safety equipment on the car works (lights, turn signals, horn, wipers), as do all the gauges. The radio—which appears to be original to the car—has been removed and is in the trunk with a label that says “works”, but we have not independently verified that it does. Undoubtedly the new owner will want to install a readily-available modern AM/FM/CD stereo. Some of the dash lights are not working, possibly due to dirty connections or blown bulbs.

They Don’t get Much Nicer

This Cutlass convertible is the ideal car for the enthusiast: great looking, drives nicely, rebuilt drive train components, and affordable. Whether it is a cruise to the seashore, a drive to the ice cream shop or a night at a cruise-in, this car does it all—and it is ready to do it NOW!
